Pioneer Industrial Instruments manufactures perforated, ladder and wire mesh cable trays at Pirangut, Pune — 150 km from Mumbai by the Expressway — and delivers to sites across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region: Mumbai city, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Bhiwandi, Kalyan–Dombivli, Panvel, Uran–JNPT and the Raigad and Palghar industrial belts. Standard sizes dispatch next working day. Trays are supplied against NEMA VE 1 / NEC 392 specifications for data centres and refinery packages, IEC 61537 / BS EN 61537 for commercial and pharma projects, and IS 2062 / IS 4759 for public-sector tenders, with load-test data from an NABL-accredited laboratory published on this site. UL certified.

This page is for the EPC, MEP contractor, consultant or purchase engineer running a project in the MMR who needs a Pune manufacturer that can meet the specification, document it and deliver on the site programme — not a trader with a Mumbai godown.

Which Pioneer? Several unrelated companies in Mumbai trade as "Pioneer". This is Pioneer Industrial Instruments, Pirangut, Pune, founded in 1994 by Deepak Wani, manufacturer of Pioneer Cable Trays — the same company that appears on consultants' approved-makes lists for cable trays. Commercial towers, hospitals, hotels — BKC, Lower Parel, Worli, Andheri BS EN 61537 from UK-led consultants; pre-galvanised or powder coated indoors; return-flange tray for small power and data. Pre-galvanised Z275 and powder coated perforated and wire mesh; equivalence table against the incumbent catalogue. See the BS EN 61537 page.

Corrosion: the Mumbai question

Most tray failures in the MMR are coating failures, not load failures. Sea air reaches well inland along the harbour, Thane creek and the Vasai–Virar coast, and pre-galvanised tray that lasts twenty years in Pune goes red in five in an open Navi Mumbai yard. Our rule for the region: pre-galvanised only in conditioned interiors; hot-dip galvanised after fabrication to ASTM A123 / ISO 1461 for plant rooms, external runs and anything within a few kilometres of the coast; SS 316L for the waterline, chemical plants and washdown areas; FRP where chlorides or acids are present. The hot-dip galvanised tray we submitted for laboratory testing measured 92–98 µm, average 95 µm, and showed no rust after neutral salt spray.

Delivery from Pune to Mumbai sites

  • Distance and time: Pirangut to Navi Mumbai 130–150 km by the Mumbai–Pune Expressway, three to four hours door to door; Thane and Bhiwandi four to five hours.
  • Standard sizes: dispatch next working day for stock widths and finishes; made-to-order sizes, stainless and aluminium in two to three weeks.
  • Site delivery: straight lengths bundled by size, fittings boxed and labelled against the schedule; delivery slots arranged with site stores for restricted-entry plants and towers.
  • Capacity: up to 8,000 metres per day, so a tower or data hall fit-out can be released hall by hall or floor by floor.
  • Invoicing: Maharashtra GST (CGST + SGST), e-way bill with every consignment.
  • Inspection: plant at Pirangut is open to the contractor's, owner's or third-party inspector; inspection and test plan shared in advance.

Testing and documentation

Perforated trays from 50 to 300 mm wide were load tested to failure at Chakan Testing and Research Lab, Pune (ISO/IEC 17025:2017, NABL TC-8638) in October 2024 with deflection recorded at every step, together with zinc coating thickness and uniformity, adhesion, salt spray, tensile, chemical and bend tests on the same samples; every tested section exceeds NEMA VE 1 class 8C working load at a 1.5 safety factor and stays within the IEC 61537 deflection limit. Download the laboratory reports (PDF, 19 pages); the data is tabulated on the IEC 61537 page. Material test certificates (EN 10204 3.1) and galvanising readings are issued with every lot; Pioneer's Certificate of Compliance to NEMA VE 1, declaration to IEC 61537:2023 and UL documentation are provided at submittal stage.

Frequently asked questions

How quickly can cable trays reach a site in Mumbai or Navi Mumbai?

Standard perforated, ladder and wire mesh sizes in GI and hot-dip galvanised finish dispatch from Pirangut, Pune the next working day and reach Navi Mumbai, Thane or Mumbai city within four to five hours by the Expressway, so an order confirmed on Monday is on site on Tuesday. Made-to-order sizes, stainless steel and aluminium take two to three weeks. Large fit-outs are released floor by floor or hall by hall against the site programme.

Hot-dip galvanised or stainless steel for a site near the coast?

Within a few kilometres of the harbour, Thane creek or the Vasai–Virar coast, use hot-dip galvanised after fabrication (85 µm and above) for plant rooms and external runs, and SS 316L for the waterline, chiller yards and chemical areas; keep pre-galvanised tray for conditioned interiors only. FRP is the answer where chlorides or acids are present. The hot-dip galvanised tray we submitted for laboratory testing measured 95 µm average and passed neutral salt spray.

Do you supply NEMA VE 1 and UL cable trays for data centres in Navi Mumbai?

Yes. Data centres in Panvel, Taloja, Airoli, Mahape, Powai and Chandivali are mostly specified in the US format — NEC 392, NEMA VE 1 load classes and UL classification — and Pioneer supplies wire mesh for data halls and aluminium or hot-dip galvanised ladder for main runs against those clauses, with NABL laboratory load data and the UL documentation in the submittal. The data centre page on this site walks through each clause.

Can you quote directly against the consultant's BOQ and approved-makes list?

Yes. Send the BOQ or the specification section and we return an item-by-item quotation with a compliance statement per clause and, where the drawings carry another manufacturer's part numbers, a like-for-like equivalence table the consultant can approve. Pioneer appears on approved-makes lists for cable trays with several Mumbai and Pune consultancies; if we are not yet on yours, the test reports and data sheets on this site are the documents those lists are built from.

Do you visit sites in Mumbai for measurement or technical discussions?

Yes. Pune to Mumbai is a half-day trip, and we attend site or consultant meetings for route reviews, support-spacing and load questions, and inspection of installed tray. For routine supply, drawings and a schedule by email or WhatsApp are enough.

Is there a minimum order for Mumbai deliveries?

No fixed minimum. Small top-up orders for an ongoing site ride with the next scheduled truck to the region; a full truck of standard sizes is the economical quantity for a new project. Freight is quoted per consignment on the delivery address.

Send your BOQ, drawings or the consultant's specification and we will return a quotation with a delivery programme to your Mumbai, Navi Mumbai or Thane site, usually the same day.
